Deborah and Greg Gissler’s special appreciation for wine first began with their many visits to NAPA Valley wineries. The Stoneledge Ranch was purchased twenty plus years ago, years later Deborah and Greg moved their residence from Austin to the ranch. After finding that the topography and soil conditions at the ranch were perfect for a vineyard, the construction of Stoneledge Vineyard & Winery began. After visiting local wineries and talking with owners best practices were taken away to be incorporated into the Stoneledge facilities. The clearing of the land began at the end of 2014 with the first planting occurring in 2016 which included vines of Cabernet, Tempranillo and Syrah. The next planting occurred in 2017 and included Mouverde, Alvarino, Rousanne and Sangiovese vines. The tasting room, tank room, and barrel room are all built into the side of a North facing hill to facilitate the required cool temperatures in the Texas heat. Fruit is crushed in front of the winery, then pumped through piping embedded into the wall down into the tank room for fermentation and processing. After processing the juice is then transferred to the barrel room using an underground designed gravity-fed method. This uniquely designed process allows the grape’s characteristics and integrity to be preserved, thus creating beautiful wines.
